My name is Señora Donoghue. Our Spanish classes are filled fun and purposeful activities geared toward practical communication and culture understanding. The students develop their communication skills by engaging in conversation, through paired and group activities. Students will also be able to make global connections through Spanish-speaking countries from around the world.

In Spanish Class:
All students will learn about the Hispanic culture and how it has become part of the United States. They will have the opportunity to see how we are all globally connected and the importance of respecting and embracing those connections.
Below are highlights of our cultural and educational journey
in Spanish class. ¡Gracias y Bendiciones!
All students will learn about the development and integration of the Hispanic culture as seen in the world today through food, social media, and environmental contributions.
Pre K/ K/ 1st grade: Students will work with themes such as colors, numbers, animals, and various holidays by applying the vocabulary to various activities and games in the target language.
2nd grade: Students will review vocabulary from the previous year. They will also be introduced daily expressions and feelings through the use pictures, videos, realia, and games.
3rd grade: Students will learn about México and family by applying the vocabulary learned to various activities and games. Students will also work on a Family Tree project, using Spanish family vocabulary.
4th grade: Students will learn about school in other Spanish countries. They will also learn about the similarities and differences in foods and they celebrate those holidays.
5th grade: Students will acquire an understanding of the similarities and differences foods, dances, people and learn the origination of the language we call today Spanish(Castellano).
6th grade: Students will learn about global connections through cultural awareness. They will also continue building their comprehension and conversational skills through various interactive paired and group activities.
7th grade: Students will continue to build on their conversational skills through paired dialogues, interviews, and presentations.
8th grade: Students will build on the previous year by reading and writing about famous Hispanic people and local /global current events. They will also learn about various Hispanic countries and how they impact our world today.
Late work policy: Students will have the opportunity to make up assignments for partial credit.
Absences: Students should see the teacher if they are absent, regarding any work that they have missed. The length of time allowed to make up work is considered and reviewed upon a case-by-case basis.
**It is highly recommended for students to do additional review independently outside of class. Please encourage students to see me with questions or extra help.
