TCA Student Eligibility for Athletics and Activities
1. Students must be in good academic standing in order to participate
in athletics or activities according to Trenton Catholic Academy
and NJSIAA standards.
2. No student may participate in athletics or activities if he/she has failed two classes from the previous marking period.
For example, if a student fails two classes in the first marking
period, he/she is ineligible to participate in athletics or activities
for the winter season. This includes the fourth marking period of
the previous year. If a student fails two classes in the fourth
marking period, he/she is ineligible to participate in the fall
season.
3. The fall season runs from September 1 to Thanksgiving Day.
The winter season runs from December 1 to March 1.
The spring season runs from March 1 to June 1.
4. A student can petition once an academic year to return to an
athletic team or club for a season. The petition will be in writing
at the time of progress reports. If the student has at least a C
average in all classes, he/she may receive permission to return
to the activity or sport with a recommendation from all teachers
involved.
5. No student may participate in athletics or activities if he/she
has not completed 27.5 credits from the previous academic year and
13.75 credits from the previous semester. If a student has a failure
at the end of the previous academic year, it must be made up prior
to September 1 of the following year.
6. No student who has reached the age of 19 before September 1 can participate in school-sponsored athletics.
7. Academics must always be a priority for any student.
