Our topics of study in the month of February will be as follows:
The children will begin working in their new book, The Superkids Take Off.
They will continue to read fluently and understand literary and informational texts. They will understand new vocabulary. Our skills focus will include identifying main idea, citing text evidence, understanding plot, and understanding cause and effect.
The children will decode words with ff , ll, ss, dd, en, on, ay, eigh, ange, ey and ie.
The children will be working with multiple-meaning words, the meaning and use of suffixes -ful and -less, contractions, adverbs, and conjunctions and, but, and or.

The children will be working with geometry and fractions. They will learn how to describe solid figures and plane shapes. They will also learn how to name a fraction.
We have begun our study of life science. In this unit we will learn about communities over time. The children will be learning about living and nonliving things. They will investigate the needs of plants and how they grow and change.
We will continue our study of the history of our country. We will look at how technology has changed, and regonize people and events which have shaped our history.
The children will learn that in the Eucharist we remember and celebrate what Jesus did for us. They will also learn that at Mass we are united to Jesus and one another.
